Eden Project Wayfinding
Eden Project Live Brief    2020
Brief: A new set of signs for the car parks across the Outer estate – replacing the current ‘fruits’. A concept/system which is logical, memorable, easily understood and which aligns to ‘Eden’s messaging’ and our approach to communication.
Solution: Naming the car parks after Cornish plants. This will not only educate visitors about the plants, but also encourage them to find the plants during their visit to Eden and Cornwall.

Idea
During the inspiring visit to the Eden Project, I found the plants lining the car parks and pathways just as interesting as the ones in the biomes. However, the plants near the car parks are overlooked by most visitors.
Naming the Eden Project’s car parks after Cornish plants, will not only educate visitors about the plants, but also encourage them to find the plants during their visit to Eden and Cornwall.
The Cornish theme brings the heritage and location of the Eden Project to the forefront and celebrates the beautiful, unique and picturesque county. The theme also blends in perfectly with Eden’s existing tone of voice.
I used Eden’s existing colour palette to determine the plants used. After testing which plants complimented each other and suited the colour palette best, I had the final nine.
Signage
There will be large signs at all entrances and exits of each car park, to direct cars driving in and out.
Smaller signs, displaying the name and a fact about the plant, will be situated along paths navigating customers to the visitors centre or back to the car parks.
Finally, the last signage will be small and simple with just the name of the car park. These will be placed within the car parks to signify which section the customers in.
Concept
The use of corresponding colours and illustrations to the plants are crucial visual aids to help distinguish the car parks and make them memorable. The plants chosen are familiar and easy to remember. This is crucial as visitors need to remember where they parked their car.
Car Park Location
The car parks will be placed in size order with the larger trees and shrubs located at the top car park and smaller flowers in the bottom car park closer to the 'pit' - main part of the Eden Project.
